A Mini YSL Beauty Review

What is it about beauty minis that makes you squeal with excitement when you see them?  For me it’s definitely the cuteness factor – seeing the same intricate design and packaging in a doll-like version of your favourite beauty products is so cool.  Then there’s the practical side too like beauty minis being a great way to test a product before forking out a whole loada cash on something you might not like and lets not forget they are great for travel.  Well, with summer holidays on my mind, these five minis kindly sent to me by YSL Beauty are perfect, especially since I have been dying to try some of these.  Here’s a round up of these summer essentials:

Touche Eclat Blur Primer *

I’ve had this primer on my wish list for ages but as I’ve already got a few primers I couldn’t quite justify buying this straight away so this was the one item I couldn’t wait to test out.  This has a clear silicone type texture with golden flecks – very classy and contributes to the luminous finish that this leaves on your skin!  It absorbs into the skin very quickly so I do need to be quick in blending it out but my skin feels incredibly smooth.  This is also probably due to the fact that this is enriched with four nourishing oils – corn oil, apricot, kernel oil, passiflora oil and rice oil as well as blur technology to reduce the size of your pores.  Most importantly it does what it’s supposed to do which is make my foundation last all day even in the crazy heat we’ve had in the UK over the last few days.

Top Secrets Lip Perfector *

I’m quite lazy when it comes to lip balms and the like but from wearing lip liner a lot more than usual I’ve found my lips have become quite dry and chapped.  Luckily a few applications of this product and my lips are a lot more smoother.  It has shea butter which soothes dry lips whilst salicylic acid helps to exfoliate the lips and annatto fruit extracts enhances your inner lip colour – something I’m definitely in need of as my lips are very pigmented.  This is a great multi-tasking lip product which acts as a primer for your lips making your lipstick look better and last longer.

Rouge Pur Couture *

Everyone loves a mini lipstick…right?  Super pigmented, creamy and with added SPF, this is ideal for summer.  This is in the shade Rosy Coral, a pink/red coral with peachy undertones.  The packaging is so on point too and doubles up as a mirror.  This is one of those colours that swatches exactly the same as it appears in the tube and provides a medium to full coverage for up to 6 hours.

Black Opium Eau De Parfum *

I have the full-sized version of this product and love it, so a mini version really is ideal for taking with me on holiday.  I tend to wear this perfume in the winter but it can easily work as a summer evening perfume when you want something a bit more intense.  This statement perfume’s key notes include Black Coffee, Cedarwood, Orange Blossom and Patchouli.  Warm, sensual and glamorous is what comes to mind with this attention drawing perfume.

Black Opium Floral Shock Eau De Parfum *

As a lover of Black Opium Eau de Parfum, I was very excited to try a mini of their newest in the range which is a more refreshing take on Black Opium.  With more of a floral and citrus note, this is slightly lighter and easier to wear on a hot summers day but still has the warm sensual undertone of Black Opium.   Key notes include Fressia Accord, Lemon Essence,  Gardenia Accord, Orange Blossom Accord, Coffee Accord and White Musk.  This would be ideal to add to my summer perfume collection and I would definitely buy the full-sized version in the future.

A great little collection for my summer travels don’t you think? x

Although these minis are not available to buy, you can buy the full sized versions on the YSL Beauty website.  If you are interested in any of these products please visit the YSL Beauty website here.

  • I purchased the Black Opium perfume for my grandma for Christmas and I really wanted to keep it for myself, I loved it and thought it was really ‘sexy’ and grown up- y’know like the smell of a successful woman with her life together? (even though I’m 100% not that…)

  • I love minis because I can actually see myself finishing them in reasonable time. Weird to get excited about finishing something, but I guess that is how blogging changes you. It just feels so rewarding!
