• A Review on the Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer & the Intensive Skin Serum Corrector

Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Corrector in Peach & Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer in Warm Natural

I wasn’t really looking out for a new under-eye concealer but when something promises to be better than sleep, I couldn’t help but test it out.  In the process I walked out with not only the Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer, but their Intensive Skin Serum Corrector too and I’m sharing my thoughts on both with you today.

Although this was an unintentional purchase, luckily the Intensive Skin Serum Corrector was a good find. This product is a hybrid between a concealer and a colour corrector.  It neutralises under-eye discolouration and provides medium, weightless coverage that is very skin-like.

It’s also more than just a makeup product as it is formulated with Cordyceps Mushroom, which helps to prevent wrinkles; India Tree Root, which has anti-imflammatory and healing properties; and Bamboo Grass, which has anti-oxidants, soothes the skin and promotes natural radiance.  What’s more, these skin-care benefits improve with pro-longed use of this corrector.

There are 21 shades to choose from, each in varying degrees of either Peach or Bisque.  Bobbi Brown recommends that if you have blue or purple-toned under-eye darkness, then you should choose within the Bisque category, and if you have brown or grey under-eye darkness, then you should choose within the Peach category. With a very good colour selection, however, you should not have a problem finding a colour to suit you.

Performance-wise, I am very happy with this corrector.  I have the colour Peach, which works perfectly against my skin-tone and I find that on days when I have actually had some sleep, I can get away with just this on its own as it has decent coverage too.  It also works wonderfully as an under-eye primer, giving that extra coverage and base which is very natural looking and works well under any concealer.

The texture is creamy, but it’s not opaque and most importantly, it does not feel heavy under my concealer.  It comes with a doe foot applicator and blends seamlessly with either a brush or even your fingers.  Although it is pricey at £29, I think it is worth it, especially if like me, under-eye darkness is the bane of your life and you are looking for that something extra to compliment your concealer.  Of course the skin-care benefits are an added bonus.  I would recommend that you make sure you get the right colour for you and not try to go for something that’s too dark or brightening, that way you’ll get the full benefits of this corrector.

So, this highly pigmented and brightening concealer is said to be better than sleep.  I can never really go that far, but that may just be me!  This might not be my only favourite but it is a good contender for best under-eye concealers, if there was such a thing.  It provides all-day coverage in a non-drying formula and comes in 15 shades, similar to the shade ranges available in the foundations.

Like the Intensive Skin Serum Corrector, this comes with a doe foot applicator but it is slightly cheaper, albeit still expensive at £23.  The consistency is creamy, but thicker than what I expected – it’s not one that glides across the skin with ease.  The best way to apply it is with three small strokes and then to use your fingers to dab and blend in.  This warms up the product making blending a lot easier.  I found if I used a brush, the concealer looked patchy, so fingers or perhaps a sponge is best.

The colour I have is Warm Natural, which works perfectly for me and once blended this looks natural and bright.  Although this is meant to be full coverage, I would say that this concealer sits somewhere between medium and full coverage.  This works better for me as I never really like something that is completely opaque.  The finish is a tad velvety but it doesn’t settle into lines and bar some natural fading at the end of the day, the lasting power is very good.

I still love my Estēe Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Flawless Wear Concealer, probably because it is creamier and blends a bit more easily but like I said, this is just as good a contender for overall finish and has more of a brightening effect.  I do recommend trying this out if you are on the market for a new concealer.

Overall I am happy with both of these products.  It’s hard to recommend one over the other as they both have different uses but in terms of long-term use and repurchases, I can definitely see myself buying the Intensive Skin Serum Corrector again and I like the fact it compliments any concealer I choose to wear.

So have you tried either of these before? I’d love to hear your thoughts. x
