A bag within a bag is alien to some but you need something to carry your essential items in and I always make sure my makeup bag is in my handbag, especially during the working week. I can actually go throughout a day without touching up my lipstick or reapplying perfume, but I find it’s always good to cater for those “just in case” moments.
Firstly, I do have a few makeup bags and this one from Marks & Spencer is what I’m using at the moment. Not only do I love the cute wording, but it’s a fairly decent size too so I can go a bit crazy with the amount of things I can fit in here.
Now, if I had to choose only one thing to carry with me, it’d be deodorant and this travel size Nivea Pearl & Beauty 48hr Anti-Perspirant is always with me. Blotting paper is another one of those things that I want to have to hand, it’s a real lifesaver and I go through packets of the stuff. I don’t have oily skin or anything but the temperature in the office can play havoc with my T-Zone and these Boots Skin Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets are inexpensive.
The Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer is great for a quick fix when I need it, particularly for any blemishes and you can see my earlier post on this here. Since I love reapplying my perfume throughout the day, I keep this to hand too. My perfume of choice at the moment is Emporio Armani Diamonds and although I love and use many perfumes, this will always have a special place in my heart.
For when the typical UK weather plays havoc with my hair some rubber bands and bobby pins are usually at the very bottom of my makeup bag and of course a mirror and brush is always important and this two in one mirror and brush compact is so cute and retro.
Lastly comes the lipsticks…the most important of course! I know it’s crazy I have 6 lip products but in my defence that’s because I forget to put things back when I’m not using them anymore so it just builds up. Upright from left to right is the Shiseido Perfect Rouge in OR341 Fleur which is so wonderfully creamy and pigmented and a great nude. Another great nude is the Sonia Kashuk Satin Luxe Lip Colour in Peachy Pink. This is more peachy on me and although quite pale I love to use it as my mixing colour. I’ve mentioned the Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Colour in Belize here and the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain Lip in Corail Aquatique here, both are still favourites hence why they just always live in my makeup bag.
Lastly my two current favourite lip crayons are the Bobbi Brown Art Stick in Harlow Red and Lipstick Queen Cupid’s Bow in Desire, both of which are classic reds and you know how much I love a bold red lip so it’s no surprise I carry these around with me. The Bobbi Brown one is like a creamier version of MAC’s Ruby Woo and I LOVE BOTH OF THESE so much.
