[ads_color_box color_background=”#e3e3e3″ color_text=”#000000″] I guess I am quite lucky when it comes to my skin.  It is neither too oily, nor too dry, but when it comes to choosing skincare, I’ll always opt for those products that give my skin the hydration that it needs.

That’s what helps to enhance that dewy, radiant glow that I love and helps make my skin look fresh and natural. Anything too mattifying, and I start to look dull and lacklustre.

But it doesn’t just stop at what I’m putting on my face.  I like to have a stash of hydration heroes – those “go-to’s” that pretty much keep me sorted when dryness does decide to attack.  [/ads_color_box]

Read on to find out about my hydration heroes that keep dryness at bay

A pre-skincare step, and something I have only started to introduce into my routine, is a hydrating toner. If like me you are new to toners, then the Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner * is the perfect place to start.  Hailed as the best beauty facial toner, this award-winning product restores hydration for tired and dull skin. With natural plant-based extracts, this not only removes impurities, but it balances the skin’s PH level and fights inflammation, all whilst nourishing the skin.

I like to apply around 5-6 drops to a cotton pad and gently press it into my skin.  The consistency is more gel-like than anything too watery and apart from a momentary tackiness, it sinks into the skin with ease.  I love the refreshing feel of toners and this is no exception with the added benefit of my moisturiser, facial oils and serums absorbing easily when I use this.

Speaking of facial oils, they are always my preference for that extra dose of hydration.  To give my skin the boost that it needs, my current favourite is the BY SARAH Organic Facial Oil.*  The simple, all-natural and organic ingredients, which are clearly stated on the label, means I know exactly what I am putting on my skin and of course  it feels extremely soft and supple afterwards.

But what about something that’s a bit more about targeted hydration?

I’m all too familiar that sometimes even the best of skincare doesn’t get rid of those annoying dry spots and applying more of your favourite products to a particular area isn’t necessarily the answer.  My troublesome areas are the forehead and around the mouth for which I like to have a targeted treatment to hand like the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum.*

This is more of a concentrated formula that replenishes moisture to the skin.  Although this can also be used all over the face after cleansing and prior to your moisturiser, I prefer to use this as a targeted treatment only.  A little where I need it helps make those dry spots look better under my makeup.

    And for the body??

To keep the body hydrated, then look no further than my recent post on my Favourite Body Lotions and Body Oils where you can find out about a whole host of delightful treats that smell absolutely divine as well as fit in with the ultimate pamper routine.  Alternatively, for that extra bit of luxe, you can never go wrong with the Rosie for Autograph Divine Body Cream * as well as my trusted Kiehl’s Creme de Corps.

    The Overnight Wonder

The Origins Drink-Up Intensive Overnight Mask is by far my favourite overnight treatment.  The name really just says it all and this gives an instant boost of hydration that lasts well into the next day.

A little goes a long way and this is definitely my go-to when my skin is lacking in vitality.  You can find out more about this thirst-quencher in my Skincare Saviours post.  Another favourite is the M&S Formula Restore Night Cream* – it works just as well and you can find out why in my post on some Affordable Skincare.

    The Eye Soother

All that staring at the computer screen, not to mention late-night scrolling through my Instagram feed leaves my eyes feeling dry, itchy and tired-looking.  However, the Liz Earle Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion is instant hydration for the eyes.

A few swipes across the lids with a cotton pad is enough, but if you have time, you can drench your cotton pads with this lotion and place them on the eyes for 5 minutes.  I honestly cannot recommend this enough.  It’s so gentle and refreshing at the same time.

    One for those Chapped Lips

As well as the persistent cold weather, my addiction to matte lipsticks plays havoc with my lips and collecting an array of lip balms has become somewhat of a hobby.

Having heard so many rave reviews about the By Terry Baume de Rose, I have wanted to try this cult lip saviour for ages. However, since I have already amassed quite the collection of lip balms, I decided to go for the mini version instead, which comes with a doe foot applicator.

Made from essential rose wax and floral oils, the formula glides across the lips with ease leaving smooth and soft lips.  It provides the perfect base for my lipstick and I love the beautiful rose scent as well as the subtle after-sheen.

Keeping with the theme of super creamy and hydrating lip balms, another favourite I recently spoke about is the & Other Stories Floribunda Lip Balm and both this, and the By Terry Baume de Rose, live up to their claims.

    That Essential Hand Cream

Lastly, hand cream is something you can never have enough of.  I have several on the go – one for the bedside table, one for the handbag….just scattered everywhere really.  It’s surprising that I still find room to buy more and I recently picked up the Aesop Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm.

Unlike the normal floral-scented hand creams and balms I tend to go for, this has more of a citrus and woody scent to it.  Great for also keeping the cuticles hydrated, this ensures my hands stay soft for hours – even after washing them several times throughout the day.
