• My Favourite Party Perfumes

    party perfume profile 3

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and with the New Year just around the corner I thought I’d do a round-up of some of my favourite party perfumes.

In case you haven’t noticed I am certainly not one of those people who can stick to just one perfume at a time. I have some scents which I absolutely adore and would always have in my collection, but for me perfume is about being mood, season and event appropriate.  It all sounds a bit bonkers to some but I just love the way perfume makes me feel and when it comes to the party season there are some very distinct scents I tend to gravitate towards.  This is the time of the year when I don’t mind something slightly heady and intoxicating, but lightly sprayed of course as it creates a sense of mystery and lingers for ages….just what I like.

Firstly from top to bottom above is Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille.  The name itself is über posh and this is probably the most grown up perfume I own.  With notes of vanilla, musk, tonka bean, bitter almond and black liquorice this is rich, creamy and oh so sweet.  One spray is literally all you need and whilst it may not suit all tastes it certainly is unique and you know that not everyone is gonna be wearing this at the party!

Agent Provocateur’s Fatale EDP, on the other hand is a more versatile scent with notes of vanilla orchid and chocolate gourmand whilst blackcurrant, pink pepper and mango gives it a sweet yet still dark edge.  You can can definitely be a bit more spray happy with this one as this warming scent will not offend anyone.

With the vanilla theme still going strong is YSL’s Black Opium EDP which is described as an addictive gourmand with top notes of black coffee which then evolves into a feminine floral but with a spicy woodiness.  It’s a sensual scent and when I think of an evening cocktail party, this is the first perfume that comes to mind.

Lastly and sorry I’m afraid a limited edition, is Jimmy Choo Stars . This is a complex scent that again is spicy and woody with the notes consisting of sandalwood, candied orange, patchouli and tiger orchid.  This is a strong, glamorous and quite powerful perfume and probably the most hardest to describe which is what makes it stand out.  I can see it lasting for ages as one to two sprays is all I ever need.

So, which perfumes do you love to wear for the party season?  I’d love to know. x
