Concealer: Nars Vs Urban Decay

concelaer 5 2208

Being a Nars Sheer Glow Foundation lover, of course I’m going to have the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer.  I can’t deny that the pairing is good but when something that promises to be just as good, if not better, comes along in the form of the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer,  I have to do a comparison….right?

So, here’s the low down.  I don’t use either of these for my under-eyes.  I need something way more heavy-duty for that and the colour in both just isn’t right.  What I do use these for is to add a bit more coverage when my foundation hasn’t done the job or to cover specific blemishes.

The Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer is exactly that – radiant and creamy.  It’s a lot thicker in consistency than the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer and if you go overboard it can settle into fine lines and look a bit cakey. The best way to apply it is to start with small dots wherever you are going for coverage, blend and then apply a bit more if needed.  The finish is flawless and there are 10 colours to choose from, ranging from fair to dark skin tones.  Most of the time I use the colour Custard which gives a great highlighting effect but in the summer when my skin is a bit darker, I mix it up with the colour Ginger.

The Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer is not as thick as the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer and no matter how much I apply it just blends seamlessly into the skin and never looks cakey.  The coverage and finish is pretty much on par as well, there are 8 colours to choose from and it’s cheaper at £17.50 compared to the Nars one which is £22.  I have the colour Medium Light Neutral, which comes up quite beige on my skin tone.  I can make it work, but I feel like it could be better.

So, the question is which one do I prefer?  Well….I have to say the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer.  I’m biased, I know, but it covers what it is supposed to cover, it compliments my foundation and although I wish the consistency was a bit more like the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer, I can’t fault the colour match, which for me is really important.

So, have you tried either of these before?  Which is your favourite?

What concealer do u use for your under eye?

    • For under eyes I swear by my Estee Lauder Double wear concealer. They have a great colour selection and the coverage is great but still natural looking x

Great Post! Have wanted to try the NARS creamy for ages. I’m picking this up as soon as i get to the bottom of one of my concealers…they seem never ending!

  • I think I might just have to get both! They both look pretty great and I love swapping around or pick the concealer that matches my base best, formula-wise. I’m currently using MAC Pro Longwear, which does have great coverage but dries out slightly throughout the day. Also have to mix 2 shades, which is not always convenient!

    • They are both good. Using two shades is a bit of a pain but the colour selection in the Nars in in particular is pretty good x

  • The Radiant Creamy Concealer is my favourite one ♡ it’s the only one that can make my super dark under eye circles go away and the colour match is perfect! 🙂

    • This is a great one and there are so many colours to choose from x

  • I honestly haven’t tried any of these concealers, but I think the urban decay naked skin concealer is a product that might be good with my skin. Ah well anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts hun! Have a lovely day!

    • Hope you found this useful. Yes, I can imagine that for some skin types, the UD concealer would work better. It was good on my skin too, but the colour match is not perfect. xx

  • I hate any makeup that looks cakey so I feel like the UD product may be better for me and my skin. Any makeup that feels even the slightest bit “heavy” ends up looking very thick and cakey on my face x http://whiteshirtchic.blogspot.co.uk/

    • The Nars one is only cakey if you apply too much but yes the UD one may work better for you xx

How lovely! I hope you’re having a great day! xo

Good review! I haven’t tried either before as I normally stick to my collection concealer, but I may splash out on the Nars one soon 🙂 x

So glad you did this review, been reading a lot of positives on the UD naked concealer. Nars sheer glow is my holy grail foundation, but for some reason I never got to picking up the nars radiant concealer. I am going to pick it up on my next sephora trip!

Thanks for the post, really helpful! 🙂

  • I have never tried these but I am currently using Maybelline Fit me concealer which I read was similar in texture and coverage than the NARS Creamy Concealer. This comparison post was really helpful! Xx

    • This one sounds really good too and obviously so much cheaper! x

      • I really like it. The formula feels very smooth when applied onto the skin and I find it to blend very well without creasing through the day. Xx

  • I’ve never tried the Naked one by UD but I’m really tempted to although you prefer the Nars concealer (;

    • For me it was just the colour match so definitely worth a try xx

  • I love, love, love the NARS concealer – it’s such a great product and blends beautiful on the skin! 🙂 xx

  • I haven’t tried either as the times I’ve been checking out both brand counters, the staff have been super unhelpful and I just wanted some advice on shades etc. I’ll have to try visit again soon hopefully I’ll have better luck x

    Beauty with charm

    • That’s a shame they were unhelpful. Hopefully you will have better luck next time. I found their shade system a bit complicated to be honest and it took quite a few attempts get colour matched and even then I’m not 100% happy x

  • I haven’t tried nay of these but I’ve been thinking of trying the UD one and your comparison has just convinced me that it will be better for me as I use concealer mostly only for my under eye area. x

    Mummy’s Beauty Corner

    • Yes i think you are probably right for the under eyes the Urban decay would be good. i don’t use these for my under eyes as I need something with a lot of peach in it. xx

  • Abdelkhalek Benrahho

nice products, such a great blog

  • I haven’t tried UD one but Nars is really good. I ran out of it awhile ago, need to repurchase it. Definitely worth the hype xx

  • These both seem like lovely concealers – I’m quite tempted by Urban Decay’s offering!

    Lucy | http://www.foreverseptemberr.blogspot.co.uk

    • They are and if you can find a good colour match with the UD one then this is just as good as the Nars one xx

  • I was always such a Nars girl but lately I’ve been reaching more for the Urban Decay (though I agree the shade selection leaves a lot to be desired). I think for a serious breakout it has to be Nars though! xx

    • If the colour selection of the UD was better I’d probably wear that one a bit more, but i can’t really fault Nars xx

  • i have the NARS concealer too, i love it! although i haven’t tried the urban decay one before x

  • I haven’t tried either of these but they are both on my wishlist. This is a great post for someone like me, who hasn’t quite made up their mind which one they want to go for 🙂 I am currently loving the Clarins Instant Concealer! 🙂 x

    Brenda BusyBee

    • I really wanted to buy the Clarins one as I have heard such great things but when I went in store the colours didn’t really work for me. x

  • I have both of these (albeit in the wrong shade in the case of the U.D. one!) and love them both. I will repurchase the Nars because I’m almost finished & the thoughts of being without it makes me panic a little!! xx

    Beautylymin

    • That’s funny and I can relate to that! I really found the colour matching of the UD one difficult too and even the one I have is not perfect, it’s a shame because the consistency and finish is really good but then not as good as the Nars xx

  • The Sunday Mode

I’ve been interested in the UD concealer for a while but so far have only used (and love!) my Nars concealer. Really happy I read this post, now I’m not so interested in the UD one!

    • Glad you found this useful, I’m definitely biased towards Nars for sure!
